Development of vapor smoothing chamber

Development of vapor smoothing chamber for 3D printed PA12 parts

Vapor smoothing is a post-processing method used to enhance the surface smoothness of 3D printed items. It involves exposing the component to a solvent vapor that selectively melts the component’s outer layer, producing a smoother surface. The research is focused on creating a vapor smoothing chamber for 3D printed PA12 parts. To reduce waste, the chamber is equipped with a closed-loop solvent recovery, temperature and humidity control systems. To produce consistent and reproducible outcomes, future study may concentrate on improving the process variables, such as the solvent concentration and exposure time. The chamber might be modified to fit different kinds of materials and dimensions.
